Since forever, I was inspired by my brother, Aryan Bhasin. He was the smartest most intellectual person I knew. Luckily for me, we got along well, intrigued by fields like mathematics and technology. He was the person who told me about Google Code-In. I was already good at Web Development, so I hunted for an organization which had tasks related to my field and eventually I found the perfect organization for my journey through the event – FOSSASIA. Fossasia is an open source organization helping people to collaborate on projects, bringing together an inspiring community across borders and ages to form a better future with Open Technologies and ICT. I began working and found myself very excited about the way the competition was and the way Fossasia collaborated. Just at the age of 14, contributing to such an organization enthralled me. More than me helping Fossasia and GCI, they helped me. With extremely helpful mentors and challenging tasks, I learned more than any online course on developer boot camp could have taught me. There are still 40 days left for the competition to end and I can’t even imagine how skilled I would be by the time the last day comes. I have learned more doing 8 tasks than I learned while doing a 20-hour course, and I hope that I can keep moving forward till the very end and learn a lot more doing the tasks yet to come.
I installed Open Source software like WineTest. Fossasia’s projects and technologies interest me a lot, like Susi.ai and Meilix. View at https://meilix.fossasia.org/. I am in touch with the Fossasia community through the Gitter channel. In the future, I would love to stay connected, even after the competition ends. And in the future, I would like to learn more about web technologies and especially about machine learning. Hope to have a great experience with Google Code-In and Fossasia.
